Aleric The Visigoth
I tell you of a Champion Back in the days of old A Mighty Champion, Wild and Free A Champion .... Brave and Bold
A Visigothic Overlord and Aleric was his name. And many were his conquests and well deserved his fame. His most magnificent achievement - A Great Glory, if you please Was when he conquered Mighty Rome and brought it to its knees.
Mighty Rome, The All Powerful City The Cesspit of the World. Its Grotesquely Evil Entertainments were regularly unfurled.
So great was their greed for cruelty - And so twisted their delight That they kept their Games a'glowing with Human Candles through the night
So when Aleric the Visigoth learned of this Earthly Hell He vowed he would destroy this horror and Destroy it well.
He brought together his 'hordes' of men Barbarians' one and all But valiant fighters all of them, who'd stormed many a city wall. And they all listened eagerly as he revealed his plan - To bring down this edifice of infamy And they cheered him to a man. And so they undertook this mighty quest Through many lands they fought Until Brave Aleric and his men Beheld the prize they sought.
'Attack-Attack' the cry rang out And 'Attack-Attack' they would And so the streets of Mighty Rome Became Rivers of Roman blood. The Roman Legions laid to waste The Battle fought and won. The Coliseum brought to ruin - Its days of torture done.
This happened nearly 1600 years ago (which may be something that you knew) Brave Aleric and his Visigoths Heroes through and Through
